Acne Prevention Diet

Why suffer if you can prevent the breakout of acne?  This is the mantra of some acne-free individuals and health professionals, and you can use this as your own as well. And one way to do it is to avoid certain foods and to follow a certain diet. But don’t just automatically think that certain food items do cause acne. Peanuts, French fries, and pizza don’t cause acne. Though others have been harping on this fact for a long time, but based on some studies, there is no direct link between food and breakout of acne.

A study conducted by the American Academy of Dermatology revealed that healthy diet is important in improving the raw materials for the healthier-looking skin. But at the same study suggest that no direct connection will tie greasy foods to acne. Some succeeding studies concur with these findings. But this doesn’t mean that plunge into an eating binge and targets sugary and fatty food items. Just remember that healthy eating is good for the body, and it will follow that this will be good to the skin as well.  It is important to eat responsibly, and if managed well then this can also serve as an acne prevention diet.

Eating responsibly for the benefit of the whole body is also like an acne prevention diet. There are those food items that deliver good results for the body and will also provide good results to the skin. These food items should be consumed, and that should form part of your acne prevention diet as well. But what are these food items and nutrients that should be targeted to bring positive results to the body and help as well in the prevention of acne?

Vitamin A is one nutrient that deserves attention. Food items that are rich in Vitamin A include fish oils, liver and dairy products. This type of vitamin can also be found on plants like in yellow/orange fruits and green vegetables like parsley, kale, and spinach. Eat these vegetables and food items and see your skin well-defended against acne. Remember that Vitamin A is toxic in high doses so make sure that you consume it responsibly. The intake of Vitamin B-2 rich food is suggested as well.  Food items may help alleviate stress, and stress, as we all know, exacerbate acne. This vitamin can be sourced from whole grains, fish, meat, eggs and green leafy vegetables. Vitamin B-3 rich food should be consumed as well, and food items that carry this nutrient include peanuts, eggs, avocados, liver and lean meat. This vitamin can also reduce cholesterol levels.

Other nutrients worth including in the acne prevention diet include Vitamin E and zinc. It is suggested as well to know your triggers and know what food items will often start the breakout of your acne. If peanuts can trigger the breakouts, then it’s best to avoid these food items. Drinking lots of water can help as well; at least 6 to 8 glasses of water will work for anyone. Water is important in maintaining the condition and the looks of the skin so this should form part of your acne prevention diet.
